Thirukurral Event 2022

Cash prize guidelines: 

• To encourage young participants & to promote learning of Thirukkural, the practice of awarding “$1 for 1 Thirukkural” will be continued. 
• One dollar will be awarded for each Thirukkural recited with a meaningful meaning (in Tamil or English).  
• One dollar will be awarded to Mazhalai level contestants for each Thirukkural recited without any mistakes. There is no need to tell the meaning either in English or Tamil.  
• One dollar will be awarded to Level 1 contestants for each Thirukkural recited without any mistakes along with the Kural meaning in English. • One dollar will be awarded to Level 2 and Level 3 contestants for each  Thirukkural recited without any mistakes along with the Kural meaning in  Tamil and English. 

• If the contestants recite the same kural from the previous year’s competition event, then it will not be considered.

General guidelines: 

• Point system will be used to determine the top 5 winners as well as the  individual level winners. This implies that each Kural recited as per the  aforesaid criteria for each level without any mistakes or prompts will be  awarded a full point and appropriate reductions will be made for mistakes  and prompts. 
• $1 Prize money will be reduced for all Thirukkurals & meanings recited with  mistakes & prompts from Judges. 
• Parents are not allowed to sit with the contestants during the competition  event. 
• All participants will be awarded with a participation certificate and prize. A  group picture will be taken and uploaded to the TNF official website.
• Top 5 Winners will be recognized on the stage during TNF Mother’s Day  Event with trophies and certificates.  
• Individual level Winners will also be recognized on the stage during TNF  Mother’s Day Event with medal and award certificates. 
• If any of the Top 5 winners of the competition happen to be also the first place holders in their respective level, then the second-place holder in the  respective level will be selected as the winner for that level in accordance  with the “one prize per contestant” policy. 
• A special award will be presented to the top first-place winner’s mother during TNF Mother’s Day Event and recognized on the stage.  • All contestants must be present in person on TNF Mother’s Day Event to  receive the prize money. No one else can receive the Prize money on behalf of the contestants.  
• For the contestants who are absent at the TNF Mother’s Day Event, the  prize money will be sent to TNF on their names.  

• Decision of Judges will be final.
